Pensioner robbed in Wicklow Town

A pensioner was robbed in Wicklow Town this week while depositing money raised at a charity event for her sick grandson.

The incident occurred in the Church Street car park on Monday at around 11:30am.

The pensioner, who wishes to remain anonymous, was approached by a woman in the car park who asked her for change for the parking ticket machine.

The thief then lifted the woman’s money from her handbag through the passenger side window while she was counting out twenty cent pieces.

When the woman went to put her purse back in her bag, she noticed she had been robbed.

The younger woman is described as being of Eastern European descent, with ear-length dark red hair. She was wearing a white top and a navy blue cardigan.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Wicklow Garda Station on 0404-60140.
