Gardai are warning shop owners in the Wicklow area to be on the lookout for shop lifters following two robberies on Wednesday afternoon.

Just after 3pm three Romanian nationals (Pictured above) entered D Stores in Brittas Bay and stole a number of items. The gang which included two men and a woman were about to escape in their car when they were confronted by owner David Vickers.

The culprits handed back the stolen goods and left the area in a green Mazda 626 with a 00 reg.

David told WicklowNews.net: “I am sick of these people. It’s hard enough to make a living during these hard times without these people coming in thinking they can do what they like. It is not the first time they have done this but this time I was here and was not letting them away with it.”

Gardai believe the same gang were responsible for stealing a mobile phone from a hair salon in Wicklow town earlier in the day.
