Greystones Councillor George Jones has announced that the 2014 La Touche Legacy seminar will focus on the history of World War 1.
The seminar will be organised in association with the Greystones Archaeological and Historical Society and the County Wicklow Library Service.
The 26th La Touche Seminar will be held during the September weekend of 26-28.
2014 is the centenary of the Great war’s start and La Touche committee are delighted to have secured The Great War Roadshow, which is a touring programme featuring RTE’s Dr Myles Dungan.
This Roadshow will include many leading historians, broadcasters, authors and academic presenters such as Turtle Bunbury, Dr Ciaran Wallace, and John O’Keeffe.
“The seminar will run from Friday 26th September to Sunday 28th September in Charlesland Golf and Country Club and details of the full programme including admission arrangements will shortly published,” concluded George Jones.
Earlier this week, TD Billy Timmins called for the construction of a WW1 memorial in Woodenbridge to commemorate Wicklow’s war dead.
