Fears that infamous rapist Larry Murphy has returned to Ireland have been allayed by gardai this week.
Rumours abounded on social media that Murphy, who was released from prison in 2010 after serving over ten years for abduction, rape and attempted murder, had returned to the country.
The rumours claimed Murphy was spotted in various places including Dublin’s Phoenix Park, the Dublin 8 area and Tramore in Co Waterford.
These rumours were fuelled by an article in The Sun newspaper on Monday which claimed that the feared sex beast had returned to Dublin.
However, according the The Sunday World Online, there are no official records of Murphy entering the country and Gardai do not believe he crossed the border or entered on a ferry.
Murphy is currently understood to be living in Holland.
