AGB GAA club notes

St. Patrick’s Day
Wishing all our members and supporters a belated ‘Happy St. Patrick’s Day’!  Thanks to all who organised and marched in the St. Patrick’s Day parade! We hope all our marchers and supporters had a great day!

Pettitt’s SuperValu door collection
A big thank you to Mairead and Deirdre Hurley for organizing the door collection at Pettitts / Supervalu over the weekend gone.  Also a big thank you to everyone that helped out collecting on the doors and all the people who very generously supported our club. The funds raised will go toward the running of the ladies and juvenile girls teams. Well done all!

‘One Direction’ secret auction

The winner of the One Direction tickets, Aoise Dunning, has kindly donated the tickets back to the club, so we are holding a secret raffle. The tickets go to the highest bidder on payment of the bid. All bids are to be placed in a sealed envelope and given to your administrator. Kerry Ward and Eibhlis Forde will open all bids. In the case of a draw the names will be entered into a hat and the winner pulled out at the next executive meeting. Closing date for bids is the 31st of March 2014.

Club gear
Club gear that was ordered on registration day has arrived. Please contact Kerry on 087 3287881 or [email protected] to arrange collection or for any AGB gear queries. The club shop will be open at the blue container at the Astro Turf in Pearse Park, from the 24th March.

AGB Academy
There were great numbers again at the Academy on Saturday morning. Well done to Mick, Niamh, Cliodhna, Michelle, John, Liam, Emer and all others who helped out on the day. Thanks to all the parents who volunteered to help out at future training.  It was lovely to see the returning Academy members as well as plenty of new little faces enjoying the fine day and football! AGB Academy, for U6 boys and girls, is on every Saturday morning from 11.15 to 12.15 on the Astro Turf in Pearse Park, Arklow.

U14 Boys Féile
Well done to our u14 boys who were out in the Féile on the 15th.  The boys played Derry Gaels and Bray Emmetts. They are now through to next round which will be played in Ballinakill, Rathdrum at 10.30pm on Saturday the 22nd of March.

U14 County Girls
Well done to the U14 county girls yesterday who travelled all the way to Longford to take on the home team.  Unfortunately it was not to be their day with Longford coming out on top on a scoreline of 4-10 to 2-8. AGB are wel represented on this panel with a total of six girls: Meadbh and Muireann O’Connor, Aine O’Reilly, Annmarie Keegan , Zoe Tackas and Clodagh Healy. Hard luck girls but we’re looking forward to your next match against Louth on the 29th of March (home).

U16 County Girls
Wicklow’s U16 Ladies took on Dublin in the Leinster Championship second round on Saturday 15th March 2014 at Ballyboden St. Enda’s GAA grounds.  The girls had a nightmare first half but came back on all cylinders in the second half.  Although only conceeding one point in the second half it wasn’t enough to catch up to Dublin’s mammoth lead. Final score Dublin 3-10 Wicklow 0-6.  Hard luck ladies, especially AGB players Ciara Forde, Annie Conroy and Chloe O’Reilly. Next match against Meath on the 29th of March (away).

The National Men’s Football League Division 4 featuring Wicklow v Carlow took place on the 16th March in Dr. Cullen Park. Final score Carlow 1-11 Wicklow 1-25.  Great result. Well done lads!
