While thousands of women across the country have this week joined the latest make-up free Facebook and Twitter craze to support the Irish Cancer Society, the men at Wicklow’s East Coast FM were determined to buck the trend.
Live on East Coast FM’s Freshly Squeezed breakfast show, presenter Ryan O’Neil launched the male alternative to the ‘no make-up selfie’.
In full make-up and sporting a striking blonde wig, Ryan became ‘Rhona’ and set the challenge to fellow presenters Rob Gormley, Tommy Greene and Andy Clarke to do the same.
The challenge was duly accepted and showing great sport, Rob soon unveiled alter ego ‘Roberta’, while Andy became ‘Angie’ and Afternoon Drive presenter Tommy was transformed into ‘Tammy’.
The transformation took place live on air courtesy of Sinead O’Connor from the Beauty Salon in Enniskerry.
East Coast FM’s own annual initiative to help cancer support services in Wicklow gets underway on April 4, with coffee mornings taking place around the county.
Meanwhile, Arklow Cancer Support Group are calling on men take part in ‘Men in Makeup Selfies Nominations’.
Pics can be sent to their Facebook page and donations will be greatly appreciated by the group.
