Wicklow endured their first defeat of the season away at Clare today, losing 2-13 to 1-08 in Ennis.
Wicklow talisman Leighton Glynn was shown a straight red in the seventh minute in what was a dubious decision by the referee.
Glynn was jostled by his marker and reacted by pushing his opponent away. The linesman flagged and the referee handed out a straight red for the incident.
The sides were level at 0-04 each when Glynn was sent off before a 25th-minute goal from Gary Brennan put the Banner ahead.
Shane Brennan added another in the second half before James Stafford scored a late consolation goal for Wicklow.
Wicklow now face unbeaten Leitrim in Aughrim next week.
Scorers: Conor McGraynor 0-3, James Stafford 1-0, Seanie Furlong 0-2, Niall Gaffney 0-1, Patrick McWalter 0-1 & Rory Finn 0-1.
