Loreto Bray launched its Power of Positivity (PoP) Week yesterday, kicking off a week-long celebration of the power of positive thinking.
The pupils and staff of the school commenced their PoP week by launching the sale of PoP wristbands, with proceeds going to the Philippines and a lunchtime concert by Greystones band, The Redwoods.
Local TD Simon Harris said: “Mental health is of huge importance and I am very pleased that this school is taking active steps in promoting positive thinking among pupils.
“Headstrong’s ‘My World Survey’, the first national study of youth mental health shows that those who share their problems enjoy better mental health, and those who do not talk about problems tend to show suicidal behaviour.
“PoP Week is a fantastic programme and I look forward to seeing other schools adopting similar positive mental health initiatives.”
