Rathsallagh Golf Club in Dunlavin is expected to make up to €1.75 million when it is put up for sale by estate agents Lisney next month.
Rathsallagh House Hotel, owned by the O’Flynn family, will not be affected by the sale and will continue to enjoy right of way on the course.
Designed by Christy O’Connor jnr and Peter McEvoy, it was officially opened in 1995 by five-time British Open winner Peter Thompson.
The 274.5-acre golf course is ranked as one of the top 30 clubs in the country and is popular with Dublin golfers who are an hour’s drive away.
The €1.75 million price tag equates to only €6,372 per acre — below average for well located farm land — meaning interest is sure to be high among the farming community, as well as golf course operators and investors.
