Aughrim Notebook – April 21

Aughrim

Golf Outing

The Granite Village Golf Society will hold their second outing for the year when they tee off locally at Macreddin Golf Club on Sunday morning next, April 27. Tee off times begin at 11.00 am. As there is likely to be a big interest in this outing, it would be advisable to have entry fee paid to James O’Toole well in advance. Avoid disappointment.

GAA

Aughrim Juniors had a great start to the Division 4 league when they ground out a two pts win over neighbours Avoca. More players are needed to keep this team going. As the championship starts soon the juniors are asked to attend on club training times. Training is on this Wednesday at 7pm sharp. All returning players remember to have membership money with them at our next match at home to Coolkenna this Thursday at 7.15. It is hoped more support, especially from the intermediate panel will support this group of young players. The team that played Avoca were R O’Brien, D. Owens, P Lacey, C. Donegan, J. Doyle,J. Byrne, J. Annesley, M. Brennan, P O’Connel, F. Byrne, P. Quigley, D. O’Hare, E. Murphy, D.Dunne and E.O’Brien.
Our juvenile teams are playing in leagues at present as Aughrim or Derry Gaels. Please give support. Check Wicklow people for Juvenile fixtures each week. Juvenile training night is Tuesday nights. Volunteers needed from 6.30 till 8.00 to help out especially adult players.
Reminder to all that the Annual GAA race night will be held on Saturday May 3rd in Paddy’s. Anyone interested in purchasing a horse for €10 or sponsoring a race for €50 should contact PRO Stephen Mann on 0863039760.
