Founder of Servier dies

Jacques Servier

Jacques Servier the 92-year-old founder of the French pharmaceutical giant, Servier Laboratories which has a factory in Arklow, died at his home in Neuilly, a western suburb of Paris, on April 16th.

His company announced the news of his death but did not give the cause, although a source close to Servier said he died of old age.

Jacques Servier founded the company, which carries his name, 60 years ago.

His personal fortune was reportedly worth an estimated at 5.6 billion.

Servier Laboratories is France’s second-biggest pharmaceutical company.

Located in Arklow, Servier (Ireland) Industries Ltd has been in operation since 1989 and is a key strategic site for the Servier Group. More than 360 staff are employed at its state of the art manufacturing facility.
