An Post are warning Wicklow residents to be on the lookout for bogus officials calling to their front door.
A number of households have reported that men claiming to be from the company called to their doors looking to inspect euro notes given out in pension payments, to ensure they are not counterfeit.
The homes of older people have been targeted, particularly in rural parts of the county.
Several incidents have already been reported in the Baltinglass area in recent days, but An Post say there have been other cases around the county.
Head of Corporate Communications at An Post Anna McHugh says they are very concerned at the news.
She told East Coast FM that they never would carry out door to door calls of this nature and says anyone targeted should refuse to entertain the caller and contact Gardai immediately.
