The U12’s had two games last week and came away with two wins, First up was Eire Og in hurling where the lads but in a good effort to win on a score-line of 9-5 to 1-6, with John Toomey being top scorer with 5-1 followed by Oisin Dillon 1-3, Adam Keegan 1-1, Dara O’ Shea 1-0 and Philip Toomey 1-0, Our U10 player Alex Kavanagh had a great game in goals, while Dylan Byrne , Oisin Dunne and Sean Campbell played well in defence to keep Eire Og shooting from distance.
The U12 footballers followed the hurlers with a good win over Rathnew on a score-line of 5-7 to 1-6, this win was sealed in the first half where Aughrim put in a strong performance to go 4-1 to 0-4 up against a very strong breeze. The backs played some tremendous football throughout to keep Rathnew at bay, but all in all it was a very good team performance, where all 16 players contributed to the win. The scores came from John Toomey 2-2, Ciaran Byrne Thayer 1-0, Adam Keegan 1-1, Oisin Dillon 1-1, Dara O’ Shea, Oisin Coogan and Dermot Toomey 0-1 each, but it was a man of the match performance by Philip Toomey in the back line that caught they eye on the night.
