COFFEE MORNING & GRAND FUNDRAISING SALE

 

The bell tower of Calary Church requires work to ensure that it remains in good condition and a Coffee Morning and Grand Fundraising Sale is being held at The Grainstore, Kilruddery House, Bray between 10am and 2pm on Tuesday, 27th May.The stalls include Home baked cakes and tray bakes, Books, Bric a Brac, Country Produce, CD’s,Jewellery & Accessories, Tool and knife sharpening and Plants (perennial, annual and vegetables). Entry to the Grand Sale is €5, which includes a free tea/coffee and homemade scone. All proceeds from the Sale will go to support the work on the bell tower.

 

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

Wicklow Active Retirement has invited Roundwood Active Retirement to a light lunch and entertainment in The Pastoral Centre in Wicklow on Wednesday the 21st May at 12pm. MUSIC IN CALARY 

The first concert of the 2014 series will take place at 8pm on Thursday 15 May when Sióga – Donna Gallagher (soprano), Rebecca Draisey-Collishaw (oboe) & Niamh Kinsella (keyboard) – will perform works by Beethoven, Bernstein, Liszt, Mozart, Schubert, Arnold Cooke and Michael Holohan. Friday evening 9 Hole social golf is now on and it is open to all. Tee off times are 5pm to 6pm. Friday May 9th was our first competition results Mens: 1st Simon Carroll (3) 15pts, Ladies :1st Margaret Bolger (9) 20pts. Come along and play any Friday evening it’s very social and everyone is very welcome.

 

DANCE 

Roundwood Dance – the Wicklow Man will play in Roundwood Parish Hall on Friday 16th May 9.30 p.m. ‘til 12. Come along and enjoy a night of waltzing, jiving etc.

 

HISTORICAL JOURNAL

This year, Roundwood Historical & Folklore Society will publish its 25th journal. We are looking for articles, however big or small, or suggestions for articles that might be included. Please contact Derek on 2818118 or [email protected]

 

BRIDGE FUNDRAISER

The annual bridge fundraiser for the Parish Hall will be held on Monday 19th May in the Parish Hall at 8pm.All welcome.

HOME PRODUCERS MARKET

Roundwood Home Producers Market has re-opened in Roundwood Parish Hall on Sundays from 12noon – 5p.m every Sunday. Come for your home baking, jams, crafts, vegetables, plants, etc. New members always welcome.

 

ANGEL HEALING

DJOUCE LADIES MINOR TEAM

Djouce Minor Team took on Powerscourt in Minor Cup Event played in Delgany Golf Club on Sun 27th April. Djouce was represented by Janet O Toole, Mary Lynch, Ann Clarke, Marian Molloy and Niamh O Higgins. Our Ladies played brilliant golf and done the Club proud. All ladies gave Powerscourt a run for their money, and were very unfortunate to lose 2:3 in the end. A very friendly but competitive match, but there always has to be a winner and a loser. A big thank you to all the caddies on the day ie. Margaret Schutte, Bernadette Campion, Deirdre Carroll, Catherine Walsh and Helene Duignan. Overall a great day, and the Powerscourt Ladies were a pleasure to play with. We wish them luck in the next round.

 

TABLE QUIZ

Roundwood AFC is hosting a table quiz on Friday 23rd may in the Coach House, Roundwood at 8.30pm. All support welcome. All proceeds will be used to carry out maintenance and repair works to our astro turf pitch. Table of 4 = €40.00. Any bookings or queries please contact Shane @ 087 4171521

 

LOTTO RESULTS

There was no winner of last week’s jackpot. The numbers drawn were 5, 11, 18 & 28. There were five match three winners, Paul Bailey, Paul W-H, Conor, Cian & Aoife, Aine Mulvey and Emma Wolohan. Next week’s jackpot will be €6,800.

 

BLESSING OF GRAVES

The blessing of the graves in Glendalough will take place on Friday 9th May at 8pm and in Brockagh on Friday 16th May at 8pm. There will be mass on both occasions in St. Kevins Church at 7pm.

 

ROUNDWOOD AFC

Roundwood AFC would like to wish our under 10 and under 13 teams the very best of luck for their cup finals All support would be greatly appreciated Under 10s play in the cup final on Saturday 24th may, Woodlands Greystones at 1.30pmUnder 13s play in their cup final Sunday 25th may, Woodlands , Greystones at 12pm.

SET DANCING

Set dancing in Kavanagh’s lounge every Thursday night with music this week by CDs and by Michael and Brian for the remainder of the month. Lessons before hand at 8.30 with session from 9pm until 11. Love if you could join us on the dance floor for a night of fun n lively banter.

45 card game every Tuesday night in Moneystown Community Centre starting at 8.45pm. Teas served. All welcome.

 

DIAMOND BRIDGE CLUB

Results of final competition in the league saw Bridie Nolan and Gaye McGettigan take 1st place for North/South 2nd Monica Brady and Phil Power 3rd Nancy O Brien and Catherine McGillycuddy, East/West victors were Ger Lenihan and Paddy O Brien, 2nd Marian Davis and Teresa Leahy 3rd Maura Gaskin and Margaret Byrne. Benefit Bridge Night being held for all bridge players including beginners on Monday 19th May starting at 8pm {not 7.45 as previously printed} in aid of Roundwood Community Hall in Community Hall Roundwood. Cost £10 including supper, raffle on night.

 

002 BRIDGE CLUB

Friday 9th May saw Margaret Bolger and Noeleen Redmond recovering from their glitch the previous week and take 1st place again for North/South 2nd Jim McNamara and Maria Magee 3rd Kitty Heslin and Triona Woodroofe and 4th Kay Plunkett and Mary Murphy. 1st for East/west Bridie Nolan and Maura Gaskin 2nd Monica Brady and Marian Davis joint 3rd/4th Ger Lenihan and Paddy O Brien and newcomers Seamus and Magdalen Kennedy.
