Wicklow SPCA have been awarded €10,000 as part of €40,000 in grants given out Nationwide by the Pedigree Adoption Drive announced yesterday.
The shelters were initially shortlisted by an independent panel of judges from dozens of shelters who sent in applications around the country.
A public vote ultimately decided which shelters would get the grants and Cork DAWG came out on top and received €20,000. Lily’s Dog Rescue and Wicklow SPCA both received €10,000 respectively.
As part of the initial application process, the shelters had to submit a breakdown of how they planned to use the money if they were successful. Applicants were required to provide for the updating of laundry services, the purchasing of heat lamps, as well as veterinary tables and kennel mattresses.
Daniella Moyles, ambassador for the Pedigree Adoption Drive said “I’m absolutely delighted for them all, I knew how much work went into their care, but it is only since coming on board for the Pedigree Adoption Drive that I really appreciate it.”
