On Sunday, May 4th at approximately 14.50 a call was made for Coastguard assistance for a young woman who had suffered a possible seizure on the Great Sugarloaf in Wicklow.
Garda Command also tasked both Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and The Glen Of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team to assist with the rescue.
Marine Rescue 116 was able to lower its winch man to the ground but a helicopter lift of the casualty was not possible due to low cloud on the mountain.
Health Service Executive(HSE) Paramedics were also on scene to assist with any required treatment.
A short stretcher carry to the Sugarloaf car park was carried out by members of both rescue teams where the woman was transferred to a HSE ambulance for transport to hospital.
Thanks to all those who responded and to all agencies involved. Thanks also to members of the public for their understanding and co-operation with Mountain Rescue Personnel in keeping well back for the Coastguard winchman to be airlifted safely.
