Branch events & news for the month of June:
The annual joint BirdWatch Ireland Wicklow & Carlow Branch outing to the Little Tern colony at Kilcoole will take place on Sunday 15th June, meeting at Kilcoole train station car park at 10am. The walk will view birds along the coastal marsh & offshore before finishing up at the tern colony where wardens will be on hand to show participants breeding Little Terns, Ringed Plovers & Oystercatchers through telescopes. Always a firm favourite & a perfect event for families. For more information see the Facebook event page here.
After an inspiring talk given to the branch earlier in the Spring by Dave Suddaby (BirdWatch Ireland’s Reserves Manager), a volunteer group has been created to assist in the day to day running of the East Coast Nature Reserve (ECNR) near Newcastle (activities may vary from grass cutting and fence painting to nest box maintenance & monitoring, hide wardening, biodiversity surveys etc.). If you would like to be added to the ECNR volunteer mailing list & receive details of upcoming volunteer work days, what ongoing tasks are due to be undertaken, general news from the reserve etc. then please get in touch with the Wicklow Branch committee at [email protected] or contact Dave Suddaby (Reserves Manager) directly at [email protected].
