TINAHELY WALKING CLUB

On Sunday June 29 the walk is Haddens Hill, (grade B, 12-13km/3.5 hours approx), meeting in Tinahely Square at 10.30am. On Sunday July 6 the walk is Lugnaquilla, (grade A, 20m/6 hours approx), meeting in Tinahely Square at 9.00am. Please ensure to wear proper walking boots, to bring adequate food & drink and to pack (or wear) rain gear. Full walking schedule is on the Tinahely Website. 

SYMPATHY

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Ben O’Keeffe, Tomacork who died on Saturday his remains were removed to Carnew on Sunday evening and burial took place on Monday after 11 am mass to Coolfancy cemetry.

To the family and relatives of Dinny Hempenstall, Craanford who died during the week.

To the family and relatives of Peter Behan, Mill Lane who died recently and was buried on Friday in Tomacork cemetry.

To Mick Dee, Castlewhite his family and relatives on the death of his mother Siobhain in Youghal last week.

To the family and relatives of Andy Fortune, Ballyandrew who died recently and was buried on Sunday in Kilrush cemetry.

40TH ORDINATION

Fr Martin Casey PP Carnew is celebrating his 40th ordination and to mark the occassion there is a mass on Sunday next 29th June at 6pm in Carnew followed by refeshments in St Bridget’s Hall, Carnew, everyone is invited to attend and no gifts please.

MARRIAGE

Congratulations to David Carton, Donishal and Fiona Byrne, Shillelagh who were married on Thursday.

RING OF KERRY CYCLE

The very best of luck to everyone taking part in the Ring of Kerry Cycle on 5th July but especially our locals John Osborne and John Sheridan and thanks to everyone for their donations.

GAA LOTTO

Carnew GAA lotto was not won numbers were 9,12,13,14 lucky dips were Mandy Kennedy, Tombrean. Lobby Nolan. Jim Travers, Tombrean. Brendan Nicolson, Wicklow. Next draw was 23rd June in Sinnots and the jackpot was €5,000, tickets only €2 from any player or local shop and many thanks to all for their support.

HOPE CANCER SOCIETY CENTRE

The Hope Cancer Centre in Enniscorthy is opening its centre on Saturday 28th June from 1 – 5pm, this will be an opportunity to see the centre and the services it offers, enjoy tea in the garden and music by Duffry Stompers and Mary Crosbie.

GARDEN PARTY

A garden party will take place in Carnew Day Centre on Wednesday 25th June from 2 – 4.30pm, best bonnet competition, delicious afternoon tea, music and entertainment, fun excerises. Admission €7 tickets available at Day Centre reception.

SOCCER SKILLS ACADEMY

A soccer skills academy will take place in the Back Alley Pitch Carnew from 7th – 11th July for boys and girls ages 3-5 years 10 am – 11.30am, cost per child per day is €20 ages 6-12 years boys and girls 10 am – 2pm €40 per child per day, family discount available. CARNEW AGRICULTURAL SHOW

Carnw and District Agricultural Show will be held on Saturday 19th July in Umrigar by kind permission of the Kinsella and Stephens families. All the usual horse classes will be included, 5 sadle classes this year, ponies cartered for with ridden working hunter and fun classes for all. All Ireland Yearling Colt of Geilding championship final. Sheep classes for all, pedigree breeds, brood and commercial sections. All Ireland Cheviot championships for pair of cheviot ewe lambs, pets corner and dog show.

The marquee will have classes for flowers, photography, art and crafts for adults and children.
