Rising star Sarah McQuaid’s voice has been likened to malt whiskey,  melted chocolate and “honey poured into wine”.  A captivating performer,  she seduces her audience with cheeky banter and stories from the road,  as well as with stunning musicianship.  In her hands,  the guitar becomes much more than merely an accompanying instrument.

 

Refusing to be pigeonholed,  Sarah spans the genres with both her beautifully crafted originals and her interpretations of material from around the globe and down the centuries.

Playing a variety of musical forms including classical,  contemporary,  Celtic,  world and jazz,  Brian Dunning is one of the world’s most respected flutists.  He is perhaps most recognised for his talent and skill in improvisation.

 

Sean Whelan is a guitarist and producer working in the Celtic and World music arena and is now much in demand as both a studio and touring musican.  He has played guitar through a cross-section of styles from Irish Music/Jazz/Gypsy Swing/Classical/World Music.  He has established himself as a forerunner in acoustic music by the passion,  creativity and versatility of his playing.

How to Be a Writer:  Summer Workshop for Teen Writers (Ages 14 to 17)

Mill Road;  Greystones.

Monday to Thursday           11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.      with lunch break

Friday                               11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

 

Summer programme is designed for talented teen writers looking to develop their skills,  learn about the practicalities of being and becoming a writer in today’s world and to have fun. 

 

The workshop is suitable for those interested in all genres,  from poetry to fantasy to video-game scripts.  Topics such as finding inspiration,  exploring and refining ideas,  planning and editing and discipline will all be covered.

 

Workshop will be primarily led by Dave Lordan,  who has many years experience of working with talented teens in schools,  libraries and youth clubs.

 

On the final day,  Friday,  there will be a showcase reading of the participants’ work for friends and family.
