Belgian tourist airlifted to hospital after fall at Glenmacnass

Today the 7th of July at approximately 14.10hrs both the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and the Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were tasked by an Garda Siochana to respond to an incident in which a man had slipped and fallen at Glenmacnass Waterfall.

The situation called for a technical rescue. The man who was a Belgian national, had come to rest on steep ground.

Once MR personnel reached him, they took measures to secure him so as to insure he would not fall any further.

He was then treated by medics for injuries he had sustained during the fall.

He was then airlifted to hospital by Coast Guard helicoptor Rescue 116 for definitive care.

Mountain Rescue would like to thank all agencies involved which include: the Irish Coast Guard, An Garda Siochana and the HSE Ambulance Service
