Nevin takes conviction appeal to supreme court

Gareth Farrell of East Coast FM reports that convicted Wicklow Killer Catherine Nevin is due to appear at the Supreme Court today, after the Court of Criminal Appeal gave her leave to take an appeal against her conviction for murder.

Mrs.Nevin is expected to be present for today’s hearing which is expected to last an hour. In 2000 Catherine Nevin was jailed for life after being convicted of the murder of her husband Tom, at their pub, Jack White’s Inn, near Brittas Bay, on the 19th of March in 1996.

She also received a seven year sentence for soliciting three men to kill her husband on dates between 1989 and 1990.

The 61-year-old, who has always denied any involvement in the murder, already lost an appeal against her conviction in 2003. Earlier this year, it was reported that she was being given day release to attend training courses, sparking speculation that she was being prepared for early release from prison.
