Wicklow Weather report that the rainfall rate record for Wicklow was broken this morning during the thunder and lightning storm.
The Aughrim based forecaster recorded a rainfall rate of 50.8mm per hour just after 5am in South Wicklow.
Between 5am and 6am, nearly 29.2mm of rain fell. It seems that the worst has now passed but there is still a danger of isolated pop up storm cells over the coming hours.
According to AA Roadwatch there is a problem with excess surface water on a number of routes around Wicklow Town.
There is also reports of power outages in the following areas: Ballybeg, County Wicklow, Kilmagig, County Wicklow and Tinahask, Arklow, County Wicklow.
