Gavin Glynn’s battle against cancer has suffered a major setback after it was revealed that the brave youngster is in intensive care in America.
The four-year-old, from Greystones, had being recovering from earlier surgery and had been on the way to Orlando to visit Disneyland with his family thanks to the Make A Wish foundation.
However, Gavin fell seriously ill and was rushed to hospital last Sunday after complaining of stomach pains.
Scans revealed that new tumors had caused a blockage in his abdomen.
It is believed that there must have been microscopic cells growing or hiding in his pelvic bone and his lungs, that were undetectable by the MRI or CT that he had before his initial surgery.
The brave youngster has had surgery on the new growths and is currently recovering in ICU.
Speaking on the Team Gavin Glynn Facebook page yesterday, his father said that all the family wanted now was to get Gavin back home to Wicklow.
“We are not sure how long he will be in the hospital but our aim now is to get him well enough to travel home to Ireland.
Once we know what is happening next we will be able to update everyone again. Thanks everyone for your support and prayers. “
