Flooding expected as heavy rain predicted for Friday

Heavy showers will move into the south early tonight and then spread across the midlands and east overnight. There will be the risk of localised flooding as these showers merge into longer spells of rain. Scattered showers will affect western coastal areas. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in light southerly breezes.

The heavy showers will continue for much of Friday, mainly affecting the eastern half of the country, with a continuing risk of spot flooding and thunder as well. It will be drier further west with sunny spells and just scattered showers. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees in light mainly southwest winds.
