The U12 boys played in the Mini-league Final in Ballinakill on Saturday the 20th against Annacurra. This was a very competitive game of football with neither side conceding any advantage to their opposition for much of the game. Annacurra eventually managed to take the title after a hard fought game. Well played boys and heads up as we go again Monday night.

The U14A Girls Championship Semi-final took place on Saturday 20th Sept in Pearse Park. AGB took on St. Pats in what turned out to be a very entertaining performance of two evenly matched teams. AGB started brightly but it was St. Pats who started the scoring with a goal. St. Pat’s then went on to dominate this half, and with no answer from AGB, went on to lead by 11 points at half time. Determined not to go down with a whimper the girls had nothing to lose and clawed their way back into the match and narrowed the margin to five points. With St. Pats retreating under the pressure it was nearly impossible for AGB to find scores due to a blanket defence. In the end the bit of luck needed to get over the line deserted AGB when a ball crashed off the bar and back into play. It wasn’t to be on the day but the girls should be proud of their second half showing. Final score: AGB 4-3 St Pats 5-5. Best of luck to St.Pat’s as they take their place in the final.

AGB U14 had another great win on Friday evening, the 19th of September, against Rathnew in the Championship! Well done boys!
AGB U16 Ladies took on Bray Emmets in the second round of the 2014 Championship in Bray on Wednesday 17th September. This game was played under lights and on astro-turf with the result that it was a very fast encounter with both sides having to work extremely hard to obtain and maintain possession. AGB opened the scoring for AGB in the second minute of play after some excellent work at centre field. Bray took their first score in the seventh minute. The half time score was 1-8 to 1-2 in favour of the south Wicklow side. Bray made a very positive start to the second half winning possession from the throw-in. But the Bray goalkeeper also had her work cut out in this half, making some great saves for her side but she could do nothing about the final two Arklow goals. Final score Bray 1-7 AGB 4-13. AGB will now play in the semi-final on October 5th 2014.
