St. Pats soccer club

After the exit of 34 players from the first week of our last man standing competition we were left with 118 players going into week 2.
Well after a dramatic weekend of premier league action a total of 102 players bit the dust leaving us with 16 players still standing going into week 3. In week 3 we had 4 players player’s to leave the stage to leave us with 12 players going into week 4. In week 4 we lost 11 players so that left us with the winner and last man standing Kevin Power (snr). Well done Kevin.
The club would like to thank everyone for taking part and we would also like to thank Pat Kinsella and Pat Mc Cabe for organising this fundraiser

TIDY TOWNS
Results of the National Tidy towns showed an increased 12 points on last years results in the different categories. Our points are now 20 points higher than 2012 which is a magnificent achievement.

The maximum points possible has also been increased from 400 to 450 however with a score of 286 we are not that far behind the overall winners Kilkenny who won outright with a score of 320.

We are 2nd in our category in Wicklow and 4th out of all the Wicklow entrants. Our adjudication was on the 8th June and lots of work has been completed since then which can only add to 2015.

A big thank you to the CE workers who have worked diligently over the year making sure all approach roads & green areas are well tended to, thanks also to the residents of main st who made sure to water the boxes in the village and park at the weekends, to all the property owners who had baskets boxes and flowers in bloom which added great colour.

Shelton Abbey open prison donated all of the flowers in the public areas & these were planted & well cared for by one of the CE workers & her green fingers really showed as the flowers bloomed like never before.

All of this is made possible by the enthusiasm of Sammy the chairperson who can be seen out & about litter picking early in the mornings & late at night.

Woodview Park & Station Road came in for special mention as did many business premises in the village, so well done to everyone.

RED KITE WALK
In September we were able to repay the local person who very kindly extended the finance to us so that we were in a position to proceed with the development of the Red Kite Walk, we are very grateful to this person who wishes to remain anonymous for very kindly lending us the money.

We received full grant payment of 75% of the cost of the work amounting to €19388.00 and not only has this local person financed the work, interest free, they have also donated €2000.00 towards the work accepting back €17,300.00 of a €19,300.00 loan in full payment.

All invoices were required to be paid in full prior to drawdown of grant. We thank this person very much for supporting this project and for putting their trust in us that we would complete the project and draw the grant down, we know the community appreciate the work done and we extend our thanks for this support. Thanks to everyone who organised and supported the fund raising events that made it possible to apply for the grant.

Thanks also to Ciollte for their support & to Wicklow County Partnership for supporting our grant application. If you are travelling to the National Ploughing Match pick up a copy of Wicklow’s Great Ourdoors brochure from the County Wicklow Partnership stand where our projects are featured.
