Call Out 45: At approximately 22.00hrs on Monday the 15th of September both the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and the Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were tasked by An Garda Siochana to search in the Glendalough/ Glenmacnass area for 5 possible missing youths.
Mountain Rescue who were working in conjunction with Coastguard Control dispatched search teams.
It was concluded the call had been a hoax after an hour of searching.
Earlier in the day both the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and the Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were tasked by the HSE to come to the assistance of a woman in her 50’s who had suffered a lower leg injury while out walking with her family on the Great Sugarloaf.
Mountain Rescue personnel assisted HSE Paramedics who were treating the woman on scene. Once the woman was ready to be moved and had been placed in a vacuum mattress and secured on an MR stretcher she was carried down from the mountain to a waiting HSE ambulance. At this point she was then transported to hospital for definitive care.
