A Wicklow man appeared in Court in Cork on Wednesday on mortgage scam charges.
Patrick Walsh (66), with an address in Tinahely, was charged with a total of 18 offences relating to mortgages on six properties in Cork, Kerry and Tipperary.
He appeared in Court along with 6 others after a two year investigation by Gardai into obtaining mortgages by deception from Bank Of Ireland.
The Court heard that Walsh and six others had dishonestly obtained mortgages by deception contrary to Section 7 of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences Act) 2001.
Mr Walsh got mortgages for four houses in Cork with included €207,000 for one property.
He also got mortgages of €126,000 and €165,650 for properties in Kerry and Tipperary.
Mr Walsh and five others were granted free legal aid and were remanded on bail to appear in Court again on October 15th.
