GAA success

It’s been a great ten days for Aughrim GAA. Our Intermediates pulled off a huge performance to bring home the Intermediate Championship.

What followed the match were big celebrations and it was these celebrations that showed how much this club means to the local community.

As is our tradition, the cup was brought to Aughrim National School on Monday and shown to the children by some of the players. The students were addressed by captain Liam Keenan and our own county star Robert Lambert. Thanks Des Burton for organising this. Thanks should be extended to both the Meath Arms and Lawless’ hotel for hosting the celebrations.

The team now turn their focus to the Leinster Championship and their game against Railyard, Co. Kilkenny. It is to be played this weekend in Freshford (see fixtures). Please come along, as you did on County Final day, to witness this Aughrim team be the first Aughrim team to go on and play in Leinster.  Any one outside the team bus wishing to travel to Freshford by bus please contact Eugene Stapleton asap as he has a bus available if there are enough people interested in travelling.
Along with our great victory in the Intermediate Final a huge congrats has to go to the Derry Gaels under 16 footballers who beat Barndarrig in their county Semi-Final last Monday.  Please keep an eye on Facebook and the fixtures for details on when this final will be on.  The sympathy of the club goes to James O’Toole and the O’Toole family, on the sad passing of Joe O’Toole.

Lotto

The numbers 5, 13, 23 and 26 were drawn in the Aughrim sports club lotto on Monday October 6th.  The jackpot was not won. There was only one match three winner: John O’Brien, Dublin c/o Christy.  The jackpot is €1200
