Aughrim Sheep Show Committee would like to thank everyone who subscribed so generously to their very successful Cabaret in O’Toole’s in aid of St. Catherine’s Services (Children with Special Needs), Newcastle, Co. Wicklow. The total amount raised was €550. We would like to thank Byrne’s Londis and all the generous sponsors of the Raffle Prizes. Last weekend Aughrim Intermediates travelled down to Freshford, Kilkenny to take on their Senior football champions in the Intermediate Leinster Championship. Unfortunately this trip was not a successful one for the Wicklow Intermediate Champions losing out on a score-line of 2-08 to 1-07. They will look back on this as a missed opportunity to get to a Leinster Quarter Final as the team will themselves confess they did not perform well on the day. This was not helped by the absence of key player and centre back Robert Lambert.
Although I will not go into details about the match what was noteworthy from the day was the huge support from the Aughrim community. It says a lot about the amount of support Aughrim have when we have a match over 2hours away and still have more supporters than the home team. Aughrim GAA would like to give a huge thanks to all these supporters and all of the other supporters who have supported us during the year.
The club would also like to thank all of the players who put in a huge effort this year. Last but not least the club would like to thank the management team of Eugene O’Brien, Willie O’Loughlin, Pat Bracken and Christy O’Brien. This defeat means the end of Aughrim’s championship campaign this year but not the end of their season. Aughrim GAA are in the Final of the Dawn Lacey Cup which is due to be played this coming weekend.
Please see Aughrim GAA’s Facebook page for more information regarding this. The club would like to wish Aughrim GAA member Liam Fanning the very best as he recovers in hospital following a serious operation last week. Get well soon Liam.

Natural Processing Of Wicklow Wool
Aughrim Country Market features processing of Wicklow wool by washing and combing. Natural dyes can then be used to produce a variety of colours. The wool can then be used to make rugs, slippers, pictures, toys etc by felting. A Demonstration by Mary Harney will illustrate the non industrial processing of this locally produced, renewable fibre. The demo will take place at the market next Saturday.
Items to be included in the Aughrim notes should be emailed to [email protected] before 8 p.m. on Sundays. Do not send attachments.
