WALKING CLUB
On Sunday Oct 12 the walk is along the River Barrow, near Bagenalstown (grade C, 12km/3 hours approx), meeting in Tinahely Square at 10.00am. On Sunday Oct 19 the walk is at Kyle, Tinahely (grade B, 12km/4 hours approx), meeting in Tinahely Square at 10.00am. Please ensure to wear proper walking boots, to bring adequate food & drink and to pack (or wear) rain gear. Full walking schedule is on the Tinahely website.

COFFEE MORNING SUCCESS
The coffee morning which was held on 18th September in St Bridgets Hall Carnew raised €1,685. Joan and Venie Kinsella wish to thank their family and friends and all those who worked, brought cakes and gave tea suplies. Thanks also to Carnew Community Care for their support and Carneew Training and Development Centre for their help with photocopying and hall booking and the hall committee for access to the venue. Last but not least thanks to Colaiste Bhride Transition Year Students who enthusiastically joined in and worked very hard to make the day such a success. Most of all we appreciate all those who came on the day and gave so generously, it was truly a wonderful community effort.

PLOUGHING
Carnew ploughing society are holding their annual ploughing match on this Saturday 11th October at 12 noon in Coollattin Shillelagh on lands kindly donated by Mick Kenny with some of the top ploughing men taking part and World ploughmen, all welcome to come along, refreshments afterwards in Colasite Bhride Carnew.

Congratulations to the u12 who won their final last week against Glenaly, well done to all.

RESPONDERS
Carnew First Responders are holding their AGM on Tuesday 14th October at 7.30pm in Colaiste Bhride Carnew, all welcome.

An over 60’s night will be held in Kenny’s The Corner House on Friday 17th October at 9pm admission €5 all welcome in aid of John and Erica’s Strictly Come Dancing.

Take Me out Carnew Style will be held on Saturday 11th October at 9pm in The Lodge Carnew all welocme for Christina and Niall’s Strictly Come Dancing fund.

 
HURLING
Hard luck to our junior hurlers who were beaten by a much stronger Bray Emmetts on Sunday in their final in Aughrim, final score Bray 2-5 Carnew 1-1. Thanks to all involved for all their work during the year and thanks to MFE Building and Electrial for their sponsorship of the tops.
Congratulations to the Carnew team of 89 who received their award during the senior game and thanks to all in Aughrim.

 
VINTAGE FASHION SHOW
A ladies night out with a vintage fashion show will be held in McCrea’s Bar, Carnew on Thursday 16th October at 8pm in aid of Carnew Emmetts Strictly Come Dancing Fund. Once worn Designer outfits, amazing shoes, fab handbags and jewellery, all for sale on the night at give away prices, demonstrations of up-styles for special occasions and treading will be shown from the Grooming Rooms. Also professional make-up and nail ideas demonstrated from The Glamour Box. A night not to be missed admission only €5.

 
SYMPATHY
Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Mary Doran, Gurteen who died during the week, her remains were removed from Doyles Funeral home Killavaney on Monday evening and burial took place on Tuesday.
