Car Boot Sale
The next Car Boot Sale takes place on the first Sunday of the month, October 5. Vans must be booked in. A great opportunity to get rid of the clutter. The car boot sale is also a great place to get a bargain with many items nearly new and some new. We also have great food stalls with home-baking, jams, plants and crafts. Laragh/Glendalough scored 259 marks in the 2014 National Tidy Towns competition. This was an increase of 2 marks on last year – congratulations to all involved. The results sheet can be viewed in the Post Office or the Brockagh Centre.

Wednesday mornings 11 a.m.- 1p.m. for beginners and Tuesday evenings 7-9 p.m. for the more advanced at the Brockagh Centre. This course offers to help those with little experience of the internet. The course provides an easy step-by-step course where you will discover: email attachments, search engines, on-line transactions such as paying motor tax, podcasts, playbacks, on-line safety and security, skype, on-line banking, buying on line. This is a free 4 week course (2hrs per class) morning or evening, for those over 65 and costs €20 to those under 65. The even better news is that those who have done our previous Benefit 3 or Benefit 4 course are eligible for funding again. Please register your interest as soon as possible. Call us on (0404) 45600.

Brains of Wicklow
Positive Ageing Week takes place this year from 1st to 9th October. As part of this week Co Wicklow Network of Older People are organising their annual Brains of Wicklow Quiz which will take place on Friday 3 October at 2 p.m. in the Glendalough Hotel (the Perpetual Trophy is sponsored by the Glendalough Hotel). There are cash prizes, a table of 4 costs €40, and refreshments will be served. Yogatree Yoga is back with Viva on Wednesday 1st October – the new time is 7-8.30 pm. Give it a try it is suitable for all ages and abilities from beginners to more advanced. If you’ve always wondered about yoga, try out this class. Yoga is most helpful to relaxation, de-stressing, flexibility and improved health. Wicklow Mountains National Park
Wicklow’s wild deer are particularly impressive in autumn when they ‘rut’. National Park staff will have telescopes set up on the Spinc walking trail (3 hours long) between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday 12 October and will be available to discuss the Park’s wild deer and their ecology with anyone who wishes. Directions to the telescopes should be obtained from the Information Office before setting out. All are welcome but dogs must be kept on leads. Hiking boots and rain gear are recommended. Bring binoculars if you have them.

The Glendalough Trail
The Glendalough Trail race is a 15km race which takes place on Saturday 1 November with registration at the Brockagh Centre. The Glendalough Trail is a fantastic running experience with a route that is scenic, challenging and safe. Not only will it be a fun, enjoyable day but we hope to raise much needed funds for Fighting Blindness.
