Aughrim Hall Committee would like to thank everyone who contributed so generously to the Vintage Tractor/Car Run on the 28th. September, 2014. The total amount raised was €1,548.70. The money will be used to fund the upkeep of the Community Hall and your support is very much appreciated.
There will be a shopping trip to Kildare Village/Newbridge on Thursday, November 27th. A non-refundable booking deposit of €10 is required when reserving your place. Our envelope collection this year will be donated to MS. Please have it ready at our meeting on Tuesday, December 2nd. Our entertainment at that meeting will be provided by Philip Byrne, Storyteller. The Christmas Party will take place on Thursday, December 11th in Brooklodge. Have you booked your place? As last year we will have a Kris Kindle limit, 5 Euro.

Rathdrum Cancer Support
Rathdrum Cancer Support are hosting a Christmas craft fair on Saturday 13th of December in the market square in Rathdrum (If the weather is bad it will be indoors) form 11am – 3pm – Stalls €10.00 each with all proceeds going to Rathdrum Cancer Support. Rathdrum cancer support will be there on the day with refreshments and selling our Christmas cards and our Rathdrum Cancer Support homemade Christmas candles! I’m organising a fundraising night for the Arklow Cancer Support Group on Saturday November 22nd.it’s in the Woodenbridge Hotel , doors open at 8.30 tickets are €10 and can be bought from me Jean Donegan on 086 1909288, there’s music a raffle and an auction on the night.
The AGM for Aughrim Athletics Club will take place on Thursday December 4th at 8.00 p.m. in the Aughrim Sports Complex. We invite all parents and coaches to attend and help to shape the future of our community’s club.
Hazardous Household Waste Collection
Hazardous household waste collection will be held at the Avoca recycling centre on Saturday November 15th. Time of collection is 10-12 and 2-4. Please bring along the following waste items: paints & solvents, batteries, fluorescent tubes, pesticides, herbicides, poisons, waste medicines, adhesives, inks and resins, caustic soda and waste oils, drain cleaners, cleaning agents and detergents, aerosols, photographic chemicals, oven cleaners, shoe polishes.
The numbers 2, 9, 21 and 24 were drawn in the Aughrim sports club lotto on Monday November 3rd.Congratulations to Sheila Keegan, on winning the jackpot of €12000. Match three winners were: Richie Keegan, Sean O’Shea, Jacinta O’Brien, Cis Byrne and Cathal Lawlor. The jackpot is €3600.
Aughrim Town & Country Market continues every Saturday morning, from 10-2. If you have not visited before you will be pleasantly surprised, we have a butcher, some bakers, even a candlestick maker! Our community games and athletics training continues every Monday evening at 7pm with our numbers growing every week it the safety and protection of the children that is paramount and as always we appreciate the supervisors and coaches we have to help but please don’t be shy if you see we are struggling some evenings come forward and help, you will never be turned away.
Our 3rd Annual Santa Fun Run takes place along with Aughrim Athletics on Sunday November 30th with registration at 11.30 in the Aughrim Sports Complex with the run beginning in the field and out up the Rednagh Road and into the Ciaran Shannon Walk and back to the community field . This is a great event with both Adults, children and families encouraged to take part. You can dress up if you want or buy a Santa Hat to help you run. Registration can take place on Monday nights in the sports complex with tickets costing €10 for families and 5 euro for singles running. Come along and support a worthy cause.
Aughrim GAA club extends their best wishes for a speedy recovery to committee member Martin Burke who is ill at present.
The club congratulates the following Aughrim players (Adam Rochford, Eoin Forsyth, Shane McGuckian, Diarmuid Whelan, Ian Clancy, Darren Keegan, Shaun Doyle, Jamie Fleming, Eanna Owens Darragh Owens, Daniel Kavanagh, Aidan Stokely and Brian Lynch) and the rest of the Derry Gaels under 16 football panel who beat Newtown in the C championship final. Darren Keegan. Keegan won man of the match.
All club members, supporters, players and anyone else interested in joining the club should note that the date for our AGM is Friday December 12th. Nominations and motions papers will be out to fully paid up members shortly.
Don’t forget tickets are now on sale for our monster Christmas raffle. With all tickets now sold for our dinner dance on November 21st, admission is by ticket only, all monies must be paid up by Friday November 14th. Unpaid tickets will be released to our waiting list on this date.

New to you thrift shop is open Tuesday-Saturday at the Pavilion, Rednagh Road. There are lots of bargains in fashionable clothes, bric-a-brac, items of furniture, toys and books. Paper bags and carrier bags are needed, so if you have any paper bags or carrier bags at home can we please have them, just drop them into the shop to us.
