Sympathy
Sympathy is extended to the Daynes family , Bluestone on the
death on 21st Oct of Kay Daynes, wife of Tom Daynes, Edmonton, Canada, and formerly of Bluestone, Dunlavin. Kay was a Canadian national. May she rest in peace.

WEST WICKLOW HISTORICAL SOCIETY UPCOMING LECTURE
Wednesday 12 November 8.00pm
Lecture: ‘Cursus Monuments in South Leinster’ by Christiaan Corlett
A cursus is a monument consisting of a pair of parallel banks that may extend over considerable distances. They are probably of the Neolithic period. Two were recently identified in West Wicklow – at Lugnagun and Keadeen.
Venue: Timmins Bar (upstairs) , Baltinglass
Cover charge: €5 – includes tea / coffee.

Culture Bus
The culture bus will travel to a play entitled “Lonely Hearts” by the Leeson Park Players on Thursday November 27th 2014. The bus will leave Dunlavin at 6.30pm. Local thespian Andrew Deering will take part in the play. Enquiries to 087 9693960. Admission to play €10. Congratulations to Andrew on having his play “Mitch and Titch” staged at a one act festival in Germany last week.

Calender
The residents association are in the process of putting together their 2015 calender and are seeking old photographs. Photgraphs may be dropped into the parish office. All original photographs will be returned.

Strictly Come Dancing
Tickets are now on sale for the popular strictly come dancing fundraiser on November 8th in St. Laurences GAA clubhouse.
The proceeds will be used to complete the newly developed playground The Green Hollow.

Unislim
A Unislim class has commenced in the parish centre Dunlavin on Tuesday mornings 11am to 12 noon. A great opportunity to shed those unwanted pounds before Christmas.
Craft & Food
St.Laurence’s Food art & craft fair in aid of KARE & St. Laurence’s will take place on Saturday November 22nd 7pm-10pm & Sunday November 23rd 12pm-6pm. As always we will have free parking, free admission, and complimentary mulled wine on arrival! We are taking bookings now and expect the stalls to fill up fast. Each year we have wonderful array of arts and crafts from near & far. With in excess of 50 stands last year our fair is growing bigger & better every year.Come along and soak up the festive atmosphere and get ahead with some early Christmas shopping. You’ll not only be supporting local enterprise and charities but also getting an opportunity to purchase original once off crafts.Don’t miss this great weekend of Festive fun.All are welcome, even if you don’t want to shop it’s worth a visit just to soak up the athmosphere. Appeal
Westside Community Games are appealing for help to prevent the club from disbanding. If anyone can help keep the club going please contact Loretta Wright, Linda Darker, Vera Reid or Marie Corrigan.

Remembrance Mass
This years remembrance Mass will take place on November 11th at 8pm. The Mass will remember all family and friends who passed away during the year.

CoderDojo
CoderDojo is an open source, volunteer led movement running free not for profit coding clubs (Dojos). At a Dojo, young people between the age of 7-15 years learn how to code, develop websites, apps, programmes and games. Folk Group
The folk group have restarted after the summer break. They sing at 10am Mass on Sundays every two weeks. Singers and musicians welcome to join in. Contact Suzanne on 087/2977794.

Parent and Toddler Group
Dunlavin Community Playschool’s Parent & Toddler group meet every Wednesday from 10am-12noon in the Jonathan Swift Hall behind the playschool. Cost is €3 per adult. More details contact 045/406866.

Men’s Shed
The Dunlavin Men’s Shed is now open, and meeting every Tuesday from 10am-2pm and Thursday nights 7.30pm to 9.30pm. in Murtagh’s. All welcome. Some interesting projects lined up for Christmas.

Senior Citizen Christmas Party
Anyone willing to make puddings / trifles or brown bread for the senior citizen’s Christmas party on November 30th please contact Pauline in the parish office.

Friendship Club
The friendship club has restarted every Friday at 3pm in the parish centre. New members welcome.

Walking
Anyone wishing to join walking group meet at Imaal Hall on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 9.30am.

New Running Club
We walk / jog or run Monday / Wednesday and Friday nights at 7pm outside St.Kevins School in Dunlavin. This club is completely free. People can just turn up on the night and join people either doing a “Couch to 5K” or walk, jog or run.

Community Text Alert
Coming into the winter evenings people are asked to check in on elderly neighbours.
Community text alert has been launched in the Dunlavin area. Residents can sign up for €10. Forms are in Ed’s Veg shop. People are urged to be vigilant at all times and contact the Gardai if the spot anything suspicious in the area.

Library
Why not drop into the newly refurbished library in the Market House. Great selection of new books especially for children. Membership is free, free WI-Fi and internet access. The daily and local newspapers are available to read. Opening hours Tuesday 6.30pm-8.30pm, Wednesday 3pm-5pm, 6.30pm-8.30pm.Friday 10.30am-1pm and 3pm-5pm. Saturday 11am-1pm. Closed Saturdays of Bank Holiday weekends.

Jackpot
Bingo takes place in the Imaal Hall every Saturday night at 9pm.Jackpot waiting to be won now stands at €1600. The funds raised by the Bingo goes towards the upkeep of the Imaal Hall and well worth supporting.
