Heavy rainfall and strong winds predicted for Thursday evening

A weather alert has been put in place for Thursday.

Thursday will be mild, cloudy and windy in places with rain at times in all areas.

The rain will be scattered in eastern and southern areas in the morning, with dry periods here at times.

However the rain will be persistent and heavier in the west and northwest and the heavier rain will spread eastwards during the afternoon and evening.

Risk of some very heavy rain early tomorrow night in eastern coastal counties, but drier weather in western areas. Southerly winds will be fresh to strong and gusty. Highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees.
