Mother and six children involved in collision in Northern Ireland

A woman and her six children have been hit by a car while they were walking to school in County Antrim.

It happened on the Loughill Road in the village of Cloughmills, near Ballymena at about 08:30 GMT on Tuesday.

Three children were taken to Antrim Area Hospital. One of them is described as “very serious”.

The woman was taken to the Causeway Hospital in Coleraine in a serious condition.

Four ambulances attended the scene.

The road has been closed.
