GAA News

Congratulations to Patrick Phelan who played a key role for Wicklow Under 21 footballers in their victory over Westmeath in The Hastings Cup last week.

The previous week against Monaghan Patrick put in a man of the match performance even though they lost out narrowly.  Dean Newsome had a fine game for Wicklow schools in the Leinster Colleges ‘A’ championship against Dundalk schools last week.  Playing at full forward Dean contributed 2 points from play and but for a number of great saves from the Dundalk goalkeeper could have had a goal as well. Wicklow schools lost by 5 pts in the end but it was encouraging to see the Aughrim Man on the scoreboard at this level.

Our panel of boxers continue to train 3 nights per week in preparation for the upcoming fight night on March 7th – well done to all.  The Club would like to wish Eric Murphy a speedy recovery from his recent ankle injury & to congratulate him on the birth of his daughter.

Finally please note that a players meeting has been organised for next Friday night  January 23rd at 8.00 p.m. in the Sports Complex.  A full turnout of all players Senior & Junior required.
