Carnew notes March 23


On Sunday March 29 the walk is in Tonelagee. (Grade A, 15km, 4 hours) meeting in Tinahely Square at 10.00am. No walk on April 5 (Easter Sunday). Please ensure to wear proper walking boots, to bring adequate food & drink and to pack (or wear) rain gear.
(Walk grades: A is the hardest and C is the easiest – depends on gradient and duration.) Full walking schedule is on the Tinahely Website.

Support Daffodil Day.
Friday 27th March is Daffodil Day. A Coffee Morning will be held in the Courthouse Arts Centre Tinahely on Friday 27th March 10 a.m – 1 p.m. Proceeds to The Irish Cancer Society. Everyone is welcome! Do come along for a cuppa and delicious home-made cake. Thank you for your valued support.

The Annual General Meeting of the Tinahely Show Society will take place on Monday March 30th at 8p.m. in the Orchard Centre, Killaveney, Tinahely. All members and friends are invited to attend. New Members welcome.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Mrs Wilson, Shillelagh who died during the week end and was removed to Shillelagh Church on Sunday for 2pm service followed by burial in adjoining church yard.

The winner of the Pride in Carnew lotto was Sonny Doyle seller May Brennan Kavanagh.

The next bingo in St Brigid’s Hall Carnew will be Saturday 28th March at 8.15pm, all welcome to come along.

Little Acorns Carnew Community Playschool and afterschool will hold their Registration night on Tuesday 24th March from 7 – 8pm in the playschool.

Little Acorns Afterschool service runs from Monday to Thursday , children are collected from both National Schools and kept until 6pm, homework is completed before snacks and games . Children who finish at 1.40/1.50pm can be collected and kept until school finishes at 2.40/2.50pm for a small fee. This would mean only one school run needed for families. Trish’s Tractor/Vintage Car Run.
This event is an annual event which we run as part of The Relay for Life Carlow in conjunction with the Irish Cancer Society and in loving memory of the late Trish Bowes. It will take place on Sunday the 29th March @ 1.30 pm. The Run will be starting in Hacketstown – Clonmore – Rathvilly and then back to Hacketstown for Refreshments in the Community Hall afterwards. Please give generously on the day!

Ballyellis National School are holding a golf classic on Saturday 25th April in Pirates Cove, we hope that all past, present and future pupils will support this fundraiser by organising teams for this fun event. Tickets will be on sale shortly at 10 euros from the school at 0539426159, the proceeds from this event is to purchase extra land, all support would be greatly appreciated.

Carnew First Responder walk will take place on Monday 30th March at 6.30pm from Colaiste Bhride to the sports field and back to the school for refreshments, Mickey, Minnie and baby Mouse will be there, all children and parents welcome.

The GAA lotto was not won numbers were 9,18,19,26 , next draw is 30th March in Sinnotts, lucky dips were Aisling and Philip Rosney, Donishal. Ned Gahan, c/o John Butler.
