Join Us for the Co Wicklow Go for Life Games 2015

Tony Lundberg and John Quinn from Tinahely, Olive Mahon from Laragh, Brian Schweppe and Douglas Shirran from Blessington who represented Wicklow in the 2014 Go for Life Games in Dublin City University.

It’s that time of year again and Co Wicklow Network for Older People and Wicklow Local Sports Partnership would like to invite you to join us for the County Wicklow Go for Life Games.

This year, with the support of Go for Life, we are  holding the Games in two venues in the County,   on Thursday 14th May in Shoreline Leisure Centre in Greystones and in Tinahely Community Hall on Friday 15th May from 10am until 12.15 p.m. both days.

These Games are open to anybody who wishes to come along, individuals and groups,  and the emphasis will be on taking part and having fun.  There are no special skills needed and tea and coffee will be served at each venue.

The Go for Life Games consist of adapted versions of Bocce (Lobbers), Pitching (Flisk) and Skittles (Scidils). These are simple games to learn and play and such good fun.  There is also an opportunity to be selected for the County Wicklow Team, for those who wish to, and there will be a fun team selection on Friday 29th May in the Brockagh Resource Centre in Laragh.

County Wicklow is one of 24 counties from around Ireland who will participate in the 2015 Go for Life Games which will take place on Saturday 6th June in Dublin City University, with lunch, prize-giving and some fun activities on the side.

If you are going to join us at either venue please let us know and contact Valerie McCoy, Wicklow Games Co-ordinator, call or text 087 6319667 or email [email protected].

You can also contact Garvan Hickey from Wicklow Local Sports Partnership on 01 287 8184 or email  i[email protected].
