Arklow RNLI came to the assistance of a sailing vessel this evening at approximately 8.30pm on Wednesday.
Following a planned exercise, the vessel Ger Tigchlearr and her volunteer crew of Eamonn Kavanagh, John Berminghham, Michael Fitzgerald, Jimmy Myler & Trevor Conroy were returning to station when a distress call was received from the vessel which was approximately 1 mile South East of Arklow Harbour.
The crew proceeded to the location and it was established that the vessel had suffered sail damage and then mechanical failure.
The vessel was taken on tow back to Arklow where all hands came ashore safely.
