Forum Committee
The AGM of Dunlavin District Forum was held on Tuesday 28th of April 2015. There was a great turnout which is a great sign of how much good is being done. The new committee members are as follows: Chair Person: John Lawlor, Vice Chair: Jimmy Whittle, Secretary: Kay Hogan, Ass Secretary: Kay Grattan, Treasurer: Lydia Patterson, Ass Treasurer: Antoinette Whelan, PRO: Jim O’Neill and Declan Ryan. Other committee members are: Aisling O’Brien-Grace, Nuala Watters, Kathleen Lucey, Marie Dwyer, Colm Bagnall, Peter Furlong, Mark Lawlor, Una Deering, Suzanne Cummins and John O’Reilly, Cathal Tinkler, Michelle Brewster.
We are delighted to have so many new members on board and wish all of the departing Committee members the very best. Many thanks to all for their hard work on behalf of our community in the past years and thank them for their continued support moving forward.

We are investigating the possibility of updating the Town Christmas Lights this year along with other local amenities such as the walk way up to the Blessed Well and hopefully a new walk-way using the old railway lines around the town. If anyone is interested in helping out on the Forum please contact any of the committee all help is welcome.

7.30pm Official opening of Art exhibitions by local musician Phil Callery (Voice Squad) followed by live music by Dorly in Market House
8.30pm Folklore and Historical town walk about, commencing at Market House. Led by Jimmy Whittle, Chris Lawlor and John O’ Reilly
6.30pm – 8.30pm Juvenile Disco in the Imaal Hall (Dunlavin Ladies GAA)
9.30pm Set Dance Céilí in the Imaal Hall. Refreshments served

Ballynure Church
To celebrate 200 years of worship at The Church of The Ascension,Ballynure a service will take place at 3pm on June 21st 2015. This will be followed by by an open day in Ballynure Gardens from 4.30-8pm. Admission €10, children free. All welcome.
Feile na nGael
Feile na nGael will take place on June 26th and 27th. Volunteers are required for the weekend to steward and umpire in Dunlavin and Donard pitches. Anyone willing to donate food, bunting, flags please contact Louise at 087-2236216.

Dunlavin Camera Club
Dunlavin Camera club are holding an exhibition during the Arts Festival. If anyone wants to exhibit or sell their work please email [email protected]

Funlavin Is Back
Funlavin will take place on June 28th at 11am. There will be a timed 5km – € 15, 10km-€20 run, a 5km family walk €20 for 2 adults and 4 children, Under 18’s 5km/10km €10. Registration can be done online or forms available in the shops. Stewards are required on the day if anyone can volunteer please contact Ray on 0879674509. All monies raised will be for local charities. Please support.
Set Dance Ceili
The annual Maureen Dennis Memorial Set Dance Ceili will take place on June 19th 2015 in the Imaal Hall . Dancing 9.30pm til late. Music by Syl and Liz. Proceeds to St. Brigid’s Hospice.

Craft Fair
The festival of arts annual craft fair will take place in The Imaal Hall
on Sunday June 21st from 12noon until 6pm. Enquiries to 0879693960

Line Dancing
Line dancing takes place in the Imaal Hall every Wednesday night at 8pm. €6 per night.

Social Badminton
Badminton for fun takes place every Thursday night in the Imaal Hall at 8.30pm. All welcome.

Unislim
A Unislim class has commenced in the parish centre Dunlavin on Tuesday mornings 11am to 12 noon.

Men’s Shed
They meet every Tuesday from 10am-2pm and Thursday nights 7.30pm to 9.30pm. in Murtagh’s. If anyone has tools or timber that they could donate to the shed it would be greatly appreciated. All welcome.

Walking
Anyone wishing to join walking group meet at Imaal Hall on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 9.30am.

Community Text Alert
Community text alert has been launched in the Dunlavin area. Residents can sign up for €10. Forms are in Ed’s Veg shop. People are urged to be vigilant at all times and contact the Gardai if the spot anything suspicious in the area.

Library
Great selection of new books especially for children. Membership is free, free WI-Fi and internet access. The daily and local newspapers are available to read. Opening hours Tuesday 6.30pm-8.30pm, Wednesday 3pm-5pm, 6.30pm-8.30pm.Friday 10.30am-1pm and 3pm-5pm. Saturday 11am-1pm. Closed Saturdays of Bank Holiday weekends.

Jackpot
Bingo takes place in the Imaal Hall every Saturday night at 9pm. Jackpot waiting to be won now stands at €2000. The funds raised by the Bingo goes towards the upkeep of the Imaal Hall and well worth supporting.
