Annual Children’s Summer Reading Programme 2015 Greystones Library

Fabulous pack now available to encourage children to read over the summer months.

Children read a book,  get their card stamped and write a few words about their book.

Card fills up during the summer.  Children develop a sense of achievement.

Remember the old saying:  Good readers make good leaders.

 

MAKE SENSE WITH CENTS FOR GREYSTONES CANCER SUPPORT

Greystones Cancer Support is seeking your 1c and 2c coins.

They are going out of circulation anyway.

 

Get the jam jars out !!

Greystones Cancer Support will make good use of these small coins.

They will turn them into big work.

 

Coins may be left with Greystones Cancer Support,  La Touche Place.

Monday to Friday,   9 am to 1 pm.

Collection boxes available around the town,  including Mrs. Mooney’s Shop.

 

JUNIOR EINSTEINS SUMMER CAMPSSt. Patrick’s Parich Centre,  Church Road.

 

Monday to Friday;  9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Two camps,  20 to 24 July and 17 to 21 August.

Cost is €140.

 

Camps are for primary schoolchildren,  age six and older.

Activities include slime making,  smoke cannons,  plasma ball madness and more.

NEW VENUE FOR GREYSTONES ART AND PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION

New venue coming up for GRAPE is now ready !!

Walkway along the South Beach at La Touche Road Car Park.

Each summer Sunday,  12:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

 

SECOND HAND SCHOOL BOOKSHOP IN BRAY RECYCLING CENTRE

Second Hand School Bookshop now open until the middle of September.

Proceeds will go to Five Loaves for the Homeless.

 

Primary Level to Third Level books for sale at very reasonable prices.

Please bring your booklist with you.

Old school books wanted urgently.

Centre only has books that are donated.

 

Books that are needed include:

          Any type of schoolbook or textbook for reuse or recycling,  including college.

          Condition or age of books does not matter.

          Unsuitable books will be recycled.

          Copy books,  workbooks,  college notes for recycling.

          Pleases separate these from hard cover books.

          Loose leaf folders in good condition for reuse are welcome.

LUGNAQUILLA 2015 SCHEDULE

Walk up Lugnaquilla,  the highest mountain in Leinster !!

Lugnaquilla is the highest mountain outside of Kerry,  925 metres above sea level.

This challenging but accessible mountain is one of the best walks in the Wicklow Mountains.

On a clear day,  it offers breathtaking views over the Wicklow mountains and far beyond.

Series of fully guided walks are now being organised by Footfalls Walking Holidays.

 

Third Sunday of the month from May to September:

                   16 August                20 September

 

Each walk is fully guided by qualified and experienced mountain leaders.

Tonight and each last Monday of the month.

St. Patrick’s Parish Centre,  Church Road; 

7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

 

A group of therapists give their time to provide therapies to members of the public.

In exchange for the treatment,  a suggested donation of €15 may be made.

The money donated is given to local charities or groups who are felt to need support.

 

All the therapists are qualified and have their own insurance.

 

Therapies include:

          Back Massage          Indian Head Massage          Reflexology

          Reiki                       Amatzu                            Energy Healing

          Shiatzu

Stop at Longford on the way to visit recently restored St. Mel’s Cathedral.

Guided tour of the Cathedral.

Possible stop for coffee in the original site of the Cathedral in Ardagh.

 

 

Continue to Mullagh for lunch in Kilian’s Lodge Hotel,  1:00 p.m.

Visit to St. Kilian’s Heritage Centre,  St. Kilian’s Well + St. Kilian’s Parish Church Mullagh.

 

Meet with Members of the St. Kilian’s Heritage Trust Committee.

Also with Members of proposed Cavan German Society.
