Stars in their Eyes.
Carnew Musical Society will host Stars in their Eyes in St. Brigid’s Hall, Carnew on Saturday the 19th September, 2015. There is now a full line up of exciting Acts for the event thanks to the Community Groups who have agreed to enter the competition. One of the Acts will be taking away a first prize of €500.00 for their group. The full list of groups and acts will be revealed next week, so watch this space!!
Me and My Girl
Rehearsals for Carnew Musical Society’s forth coming production of Me and My Girl will commence in Carnew National School next Tuesday the 1st of September next and will continue on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 8 to 10 pm. If you have ever thought of joining the musical Society, now is your chance, just come along! Of course being able to sing and may be even dance a little would be an advantage!. All welcome (over 16’s)
Me and My Girl is a fantastic musical with music by Noel Gay and revised book by Stephen Fry.The musical is set in the late 1930s and tells the story of an unapologetically unrefined cockney gentleman named Bill Snibson who learns that he is the 14th Earl of Hareford – with action set in Hampshire, Mayfair, and Lambeth. It includes such wonderful musical numbers as: The Lambeth Walk, Leaning on the Lamp-post, The sun has got it’s hat on and the title song: Me and My Girl.
Carnew craft class will resume on Wednesday 16th September afternoons 1.30 -3.30 pm doing decoupage and evenings 7 -9 pm doing canvas work, new members are very welcome, for more details contact Eileen 0862584616.
Carnew Heritage club are busy getting ready for their annual working day on Sunday 13th September on the usual lands on the Main Carnew/Gorey Road with the usual events of the cutting and threshing of oats, bread and butter making, colcannon, live music on the field, loy digging, tractor pulling, vintage car display, dog show at 2pm, horse shoe throwing, shoeing of horses, and much more, the theme this year is John Deere, admission adults 5euros children free, all proceeds towards Friends of Local People with M.S.
On the Friday night 11th there will be story telling in Kenny’s The Corner House with the Drinagh Mummers at 9pm with a book launch by Noelle Keogh on the night, all welcome.
On Saturday 12th there will be Live Traditional music in McCrea’s and The Lodge at 9pm, all are welcome.
LITTLE ACORNS COMMUNITY PLAYSCHOOL
Little Acorns Community Playschool and after school is now re-open for the new school year. The playschool is open from 9.30am – 12.30pm Monday – Friday for children aged 2 years6 months to 5 years and toilet trained.
For your convience and a small fee we offer to hold onto your child for an extra hour, until 1.30pm. This can be helpful to those working a morning shift/ on lunch break or collecting junior children from National school.

Little Acorns Community Playschool and Afterschool are now re-open for the new school year.
Our afterschool staff will collect your child/children from both Carnew National Schools at each finishing times. Children will complete their homework which will then be followed by snack and games until 6pm Monday to Friday.
Some circumstances may be subsidised if you are currently on a C.E. Scheme, work placement scheme or similar.
For your convenience of less school runs, we can collect junior classes and keep children for the hour until you are collecting older children from National School. Or collect children from National Schools and keep until you collect older children from Colaiste Bhride, Carnew for a small fee.

Carnew walking club inconjunction with Get Ireland Walking hold their walks on every Thursday night at 7.30pm meeting at Carnew Training and Development Centre, everyone is welcome to come along and please bring a friend.

TINAHELY WALKING CLUB
On Sunday Sept 13 the walk will be Drumgoft to Lugnaquilla (Grade A, 20km, 6 hours) meeting in Tinahely Square at 9.15am or at Glenmalure Hotel at 9.45. Details of the walk on Sunday September 20 will be announced after the next committee meeting (but should be on the Tinahely website page before these notes). Please ensure to wear proper walking boots, to bring adequate food & drink and to pack (or wear) rain gear.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Mollie Kinsella, (nee Forde) Castlewhite who died during the week, her remains were removed to Askamore on Thursday evening and burial took place on Friday.
