Dunlavin notes September 7


The Friendship Group – started back on the 4th September, from 3.00pm to 5.00pm in the Parish Centre. New members welcome. There will be light exercises from 2.30pm. Anyone interested in the Community Alert panic button can find out more details at the Friendship Group on Fridays.

FunLavin 2015

Funlavin 2015 – made a total profit of €1,450. This money will go to the following:
Dunlavin St. Vincent de Paul €800, Men’s Shed €350 and Meals on Wheels €300.
A BIG Thank You to everyone that participated, donated and helped out with this family fun event. Let’s hope Funlavin 2016 is even bigger and better!!
Sympathy is extended to Mary Metcalfe & Family, Moanvaun, Fryanstown on the death of her sister Margaret O’ Donnell , Stratford. May Margaret rest in peace.

Farmyard Feile
Thanks to everyone who supported the recent Farmyard Feile held in Deering’s farm Milltown in aid of St. Michael’s Ward in Temple Street Children’s Hospital. The fundraiser raised €3734.55. A very enjoyable day was had by all. Raffle winners were Denis and Mary Deegan, Mary Manley, Breda Walsh, Florence Grace, Charles Richards, Margaret Lynott, Mary Dwyer and Paul O’ Farrell.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Paddy Doyle, Crehelp who died last week. Paddy is mourned by his son John, brother Sean, sisters Bernie O’ Rourke and Lilly O’ Reilly. Paddy’s funeral took place in Hollywood on Thursday September 3rd 2015. May Paddy rest in peace.

Dunlavin Flower Club
Dunlavin Flower Club will resume after the Summer break on September 9th at 8pm. The venue is the Jonathan Swift Hall and the title of “Autumn” demonstration will be given by Ann Coe. New season, new members welcome.

Gold Medallist
Congratulations to Amy and Sophie Barrett on winning Gold medals in singing in the All Ireland finals of Community Games. The Barrett sisters were representing Westside Community Games. The girls wooed the judges with “Ho Hey “and “Tonight belongs to you”. Amy came 4th in the solo singing section.

The girls are daughters of Dave and Antoinette Barrett , Merginstown. A reception party took place in the GAA complex Dunlavin last Tuesday night where the girls sang their winning songs for the big turnout. Well done girls you did Dunlavin Proud.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Danny O ‘Sullivan , Gormanstown who died last week. Danny is mourned by his wife Breda, daughter Trish, son-in-law Enda, grandchildren Colm and Enda, brother Anthony and his many relatives and friends. Danny’s funeral took place in Gormanstown Church on Saturday August 22nd. May Danny rest in peace.

The Dunlavin Running and Walking CLUB – has started a new (FREE) Couch to 5km on Monday, Aug 10th at 7pm (meeting outside St. Kevin’s College). This 8 week programme will continue at 7pm, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The Dunlavin & District Forum Christmas lights sub- committee have begun fundraising to upgrade the present Christmas Lights System. A three year project has been put in place to upgrade and maintain the lights already in place. Please look out for the collection boxes in the local businesses. You will also be supporting the Senior Citizens Christmas Party. Your support is very much appreciated
