Juvenile GAA

The Aughrim U12 footballers just came up short against St Kevin’s in their mini-festival final in Laragh on Sunday morning last. The lads tried their hearts out but had no luck. They hit the post twice and the crossbar twice in the second half and eventually lost on a score of 4-08 to 2-06, with St Kevin’s getting a goal and a point in the last minute of the game. Shane Arthur played some great football in the back line while Oisin Coogan and Dylan Byrne (1-0) put in a massive effort in midfield. Stephen O’ Toole (1-02) and Alex Kavanagh (0-3), two U10 players were the pick of the forwards. Philip Toomey rounded off the Aughrim scoring with a point. Hard luck to the team and management.  The Luke O’ Toole’s U14 All-Ireland winning team was honoured at the County Hurling finals in Aughrim on Sunday. The lads enjoyed their walk on to the pitch in Aughrim and had their photograph taken once again.  Congratulations to the U13 Camogie team who played some great camogie to beat Kilcoole and Carnew on their way to win the U13 B Camogie Championship on Saturday in Ballinakill and also to the Aughrim/Ballinacor U16 team who also won the B Championship the previous weekend.

Thanks

Aughrim Tidy Towns would like to thank the whole community and everyone who came out on Friday nights or who have supported us over the year.  The great efforts resulted in an extra 5 marks, keeping Aughrim Gold Medal Winners for County Wicklow.  Well done everybody!
