Arklow Lions Club are once more preparing for their Annual Christmas Appeal and this year will host a brand new fundraiser in aid of local charities.
The Arklow Lions Club Little Christmas Ladies Lunch will take place in the beautiful setting of Arklow Golf Club on Wednesday January 6 – Little Christmas Day – at 1pm.
Little Christmas is traditionally a day set aside for women while the Irish men take on all the household chores.
“We are calling on the women of Arklow to come celebrate Little Christmas with friends, sisters, mothers, grannys and aunts,” said Arklow Lions Club president Joanne Byrne.
“We hope all local ladies will use this occasion to treat, pamper and help celebrate the Irish tradition that is Women’s Christmas.”
As well as the new Little Christmas Ladies Lunch, the annual Lions Club Food Appeal will be held on November 27-28 in Tesco and in Supervalu and Dunnes Stores on December 11-13.
The traditional Bottle of Whiskey draw and raffle will also be held in December.
“It has been our experience that the people of Arklow give generously at this time and Arklow Lions are very grateful for this ongoing support,” said Joanne.
“Our St Stephen’s Day Swim remains popular and this year we are calling on all our usual swimmers and anyone who feels like supporting the swim to come along and ‘dare a dip’ on the South Beach in Arklow.
“This is supported by the Arklow RNLI, the sea scouts, the Condren family and many more with our thanks. Sponsorship cards available from any Lions Club member so please give generously this Christmas.”
