Dublin Fire Brigade said on their twitter feed that the fire, which is believed to have started shortly after 6 pm, was a substantial one.
“We’ve three pumps enroute to a gorse fire near Tibradden in the Dublin/Wicklow mountains.”
“They are currently attempting to access the fire, which appears to be in a remote part of the mountains.”
Fire officers have also advised anyone in the area who is worried about the smoke, which is being carried by strong winds to close their windows.
