Warning to motorists as black ice forecast

Warning to motorists as black ice forecast

Gardai are warning motorists to drive with caution as temperatures drop, black ice has been reported in parts of West Wicklow.

Traffic is set to be extremely heavy on all main routes tomorrow morning as people return to work after the Christmas holiday.

Tonight

Dry and very cold with some clear spells and light breezes. Lowest temperatures of -2 to -4 Celsius, but possibly dipping a degree lower in some rural parts. A widespread frost will form early tonight. There is a risk of some mist and fog patches developing with some freezing fog patches in places also.

Tomorrow

Frost and fog clearing tomorrow morning and most areas will stay dry with a mix of cloud and bright or sunny spells, with the best of the sunshine in the south of the province. Another cold day, with highest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees, in light to moderate westerly breezes.
