The 2nd Wicklow Garda Youth Awards took place on Saturday the 4th of February in the Grand Hotel, Wicklow town.
The awards were sponsored by the County Wicklow Partnership and were hosted by Today FM DJ Philip Cawley.
For the next 17 days Wicklownews.net will post a picture and bio of one of the winning recipients, today we have Shannon Franey from Glenealy.
Shannon was nominated by her step Grandmother Sheila Driver.
Shannon is the proud big sister to her 8 year old brother Jake. Jake has autism and cerebral palsy and is mostly non verbal.
Shannon dedicates most of her days to her younger brother.
She is an invaluable help to her mother on a daily basis and consistently puts the needs of her family before her own.
Although Jake is non verbal he does have one word word which is “sis”. Shannon is Jake’s world and their close bond is obvious to all that know them. Shannon is an exceptional, caring compassionate and selfless young person who doesn’t hesitate to help with any task put before her.
She is a remarkable sister and daughter and her whole family are incredibly proud of her and appreciate her more than she will ever know.
