Our under 11 team were away from home v eire og but came up against a very strong side and where defeated well but a lot of team spirit was shown by all .
Next up where the under 13 away also to ashford with the home team getting off to a good start but the boys dug deep again and showed great heart at getting back in the game but lost by a scoreline of 4.8 to 4.6 and very easily could of got the win in the dying minutes with a late goal chance .
Next was the turn of derry geals against st kevins at home this is a good side to watch moved very well as a unit .Taking a very comfortable victory .2.7 to 3pts well done lads .
The juniors had a practice match v avoca at home on Thursday last with once again good numbers turning up to give the management something good to pick from the result was a draw in the end 1.8 apiece .
Then Saturday the senior men where on the road to carnew where things didn’t go our way loosing by a single point in the end 2.7 to 2.6 hard luck men .We are away to kiltegan next in the senior and the juniors are away to Coolakenno where they get there league campaign up and running
It’s been a busy few weeks. Great turnout at the County Cross Country hosted by Billy Porter and Rathdrum community games with nine of our athletes going forward to the National Festival in Abbotstown on May 6th.
Our U15 Boys badminton team went on to Leinster in Carlow played very well but unfortunately got knocked out in the semifinals.
The Art and Handwriting has been judged locally and gone on to the next round for the overall judging to see who goes forward to County Finals on Sunday May 28th in Dunlavin NS. Those results should be back by beginning of May. Thank you to all our local schools who facilitated the competition and we are very grateful for their continued support.
The County talent finals take place on Sunday 14th May in Glenealy. Registration at 12.30 with a 1.00pm start. We have a few entries for singing and dancing. Any other child interested please contact me before May 5th.
Our local area athletic finals will take place on Monday 24th April in the community field. Registration is at 6.00pm for a 6.30pm start. Races start from toddlers to U16 distances. It’s a lovely evening so please come along and support. All finalists will go on to represent their area in Shillelagh on Saturday 10th June.
Tinahely CCE will host the Wicklow County Fleadh on Saturday 22nd April in Tinahely N.S. This festival of traditional music and culture is set to attract entries and visitors from all over the county.
Tea, coffee, cakes and sandwiches galore will be served in the ‘Tea Room’ Community Hall, Tinahely from 10a.m. – 3p.m. All proceeds from refreshments will go to KARE Tinahely Local Service. Fundraising is a vital source of additional income for KARE. A special thanks to our local Tinahely Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann branch for generously offering the proceeds from the refreshments to
KARE provides support to people who have an intellectual disability and their families. The Tinahely Local Service was established in 2003 and ensures that individuals with intellectual disabilities, can avail of the service in their own community and as close to their home as possible. The catchment area includes Tinahely, Annacurra, Clonmore, Carnew, Shillelagh, Coolboy, Aughrim, Knockananna and Hacketstown.
There will be plenty of tea and coffee to go round as well as a selection of delicious home-made cakes and sandwiches. So bring your family, friends and neighbours along to the Fleadh to enjoy the best of traditional music and song. We look forward to seeing you there!
